Wind Energy & the
Ainsworth Wind Energy Facility

Speaker: Mike Hasenkamp from NPPD. Michael A. Hasenkamp is currently a Project Manager in the Project Management Office at NPPD. Mike is a graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a BSEE degree. He is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Nebraska and is a Certified Project Manager. Mike is currently the Professional Activities Chairman of the Nebraska Section of IEEE. On the Ainsworth Wind Energy Facility, Mike is Project Coordinator.

Event Date: Thursday, October 20, 2005

Meeting Location: Duster's Restaurant, 2804 13th Street, Columbus, NE (402-564-8338). From the east, take US 30 west to US 30/81 South. Continue South to 13th Street. Turn left on 13th Street approximately 5 blocks to Duster’s. From the South, take US 30/81 North to 13th Street. Turn right on 13th Street approximately 5 blocks to Duster’s. From the North, take US 81 South, then East into Columbus to US 30/81 South. Continue South to 13th Street. Turn left on 13th Street approximately 5 blocks to Duster’s.

Topic Overview: The NPPD Ainsworth Wind Facility, located seven miles South of Ainsworth, Nebraska, is currently the largest wind facility operating in the State of Nebraska. The plant output is 60MW from 36 Vestas 1.65 MW V82 wind turbines. All 36 turbines started together for operation on September 6, 2005.
