The "State of the State" in Telecom, Legislation, Developments, and Regulation Speakers: Gene Hand and Ann Boyle: Gene Hand is Director of Communications for the Nebraska Public Service Commission. Gene has served as PSC Communications Director for 29 years. He is a graduate Electrical Engineer of UNL, 1973. Ann Boyle is PSC Commissioner for District 2. She was elected to the Commission in November 1996. She serves on the Boards of the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners and the North American Numbering Council. She is also President of the Omaha Summer Arts Festival, Vice Presdident of the Blue Barn Theater and Co-Chair of Nebraska Aids Project 2006 Night of a 1000 Stars. She was a Consultant/lobbyist from 1994 to 1995. She was a licensed real estate agent from 1987 to 1994. IEEE Student meals are half-price ($9) Sponsor: Open Topic Overview: In this presentation, Gene will be discussing the top 10 to 20 Communication Legislative – Regulatory issues at the state level for the last year. Some issues to be covered are all recent and ongoing legislation, communications hot topics, Broadband Power Line Carrier (BPL), wireless, fiber, and the state-wide communications system. Ann Boyle will provide commentary on these issues and, as always, add to the insight of new issues and legislation.
